Ministry of the Environment and Energy
The Ministry of the Environment and Energy (MEE - YPEN) is responsible for Energy, Environment, Forests, Spatial Planning, and Waste Management. Its mission is the management of the natural environment and biodiversity, through the preservation and improvement of the quality of the environment, renewable natural resources, biodiversity, and water resources; the fight against energy poverty, through the proper management of non-renewable energy resources and the promotion of renewable energy sources; energy research and innovation, energy saving, climate change adaptation through addressing, mitigating and adapting to climate change impacts; the national strategy for Forests, through forest protection and management; urban regeneration, sustainable spatial planning with respect for architectural heritage; the coordination of government environmental policies.
